Princess Anne Marks 75th Birthday with Low-Key Celebrations and Sailing Expedition

Princess Anne, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, celebrated her 75th birthday on August 15, 2026, with a low-key celebration. Instead of large-scale parties or public commemorations, she chose to spend her special day sailing around the Western Isles of Scotland with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.

The official Royal Family social media accounts shared a new photo taken by John Swannell to mark the occasion. In the photo, Princess Anne is wearing a red, belted shirt dress with pearl jewellery, standing in the garden of her Gatcombe Park home in Gloucestershire.

The coin was unveiled as an early celebration of Princess Anne's milestone birthday. The Royal Mint unveiled the first-ever official UK coin to honor Princess Anne in July of 2025, in recognition of her unwavering commitment to the Crown.

The coin unveiling and the shared photo were not the only highlights of the day. The Royal Family's Instagram account also shared a collection of vignettes and private family moments, offering a glimpse into Princess Anne's life.

The shared footage included tender moments of a young Queen Elizabeth II holding Princess Anne as a baby, as well as clips of her grandparents, King George VI and the Queen Mother, doting over their family. The later clips show cute moments of Anne as a toddler walking with her brother on board a ship, playing around in the gardens with her father and some of their dogs, and fostering her well-known love for horses from a very early age.

One of the most heartwarming moments in the shared footage was Prince Philip carrying a young King Charles over to the pair. The fan described the shared footage as "just gorgeous" in the comments.

It is worth noting that Princess Anne has a unique approach to celebrating her birthdays. She reportedly only celebrates those that end in a zero and not in a five. This year, instead of a grand celebration, she hosted more than 100 of her charities at Buckingham Palace in June.

John Swannell, who took Princess Anne's 40th, 50th, and 60th birthday portraits, was once again behind the camera for her 75th birthday portrait. His skillful photography captured the essence of Princess Anne's spirit and grace.

As Princess Anne sails into her 75th year, she continues to serve the Crown and her charities with dedication and passion. Her low-key birthday celebrations reflect her humble and down-to-earth nature, making her a beloved figure among the British public.
