Tesla Unveils Model Y Performance: A New Electrifying Variant

Tesla, the automaker, has announced the launch of a new variant of their popular electric SUV, the Model Y. The new variant, named the Tesla Model Y Performance Juniper 2025, is set to make its debut in September 2025 in Europe and Germany, according to the online configurator.

The Model Y Performance is packed with exciting features, starting with the Drive Modes. This new variant offers an option for added rearward torque bias, providing a more dynamic driving experience.

Under the hood, the European version of the Model Y Performance is expected to generate around 460 bhp, while the North American version might top the line with 510 bhp. This powerhouse accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in a blistering 3.5 seconds, making it quicker than both the Long Range RWD variant and the older Model Y Performance.

The Model Y Performance also boasts an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. It offers a single-charge WLTP range of 580 km, ensuring long-distance travel with ease.

The exterior of the Model Y Performance is as impressive as its performance. It features updated front and rear fascias with redesigned front intakes, a carbon fibre ducktail spoiler, a chunkier rear diffuser with additional vents, and exclusive badging on the tailgate. The vehicle comes with exclusive 21-inch Arachnid alloy wheels and red brake calipers hidden behind.

Inside, the cabin of the flagship Model Y features a carbon fibre trim on the dashboard and a larger 16-inch infotainment display. The Model Y Performance gets fitted with new sports seats with integrated headrests and full electric adjustability with heating and ventilation. The vehicle also comes equipped with a 15-speaker audio system with a subwoofer, promising an immersive audio experience.

Tesla has also implemented electronically controlled adaptive dampers instead of frequency selective dampers in the Model Y Performance, ensuring a smooth ride. The vehicle also features a staggered wheel and tyre fitment for improved road grip.

As of now, there is no confirmed information about the Model Y Performance coming to India. However, the Model Y Performance is already available for order in various international markets, including Europe, the UK, the Middle East, and Africa.

One fascinating aspect about the Model Y Performance is its charging capabilities. Tesla claims the vehicle can recover up to 243 km range on a 15-minute fast charge.
