Sphere, the innovative entertainment venue in Las Vegas, debuted its immersive Wizard of Oz experience on Thursday night. The event, which promised experiential storytelling in a new medium, was attended by several notable figures, including James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment Co., and Jane Rosenthal, a producer.

James Dolan, dressed as the titular wizard from the classic film, welcomed guests to the event. He promised an unforgettable experience, stating, "Tonight, you will experience the Wizard of Oz like never before."

The Sphere's immersive Wizard of Oz experience is a testament to modern technology, with A.I. used to fill out scenes to a 360-degree feel. The orchestral score was re-recorded, and new sound effects were created to enhance the cinematic experience.

One of the most notable improvements is the breathtaking new clarity of Judy Garland's voice. Her iconic performances have been brought to life in a way that truly transports the audience to the magical world of Oz.

The venue itself is transformed during the experience. Upon arrival, attendees enter the Sphere's Atrium drenched in sepia tones, a nod to the film's black-and-white opening. As the story unfolds, the space transitions into a technicolor wonderland, mirroring the transformation Dorothy experiences as she travels through Oz.

The audience will see the film at unparalleled scale and resolution, with every detail brought to life in stunning detail. The Sphere's chairs jolt and shake whenever the Wicked Witch appears, adding an extra layer of immersion to the experience.

The tornado scene in the movie creates a huge wind storm, smoke, and flying leaves in the venue, making it feel as though the audience is truly inside a tornado. Bubbles float down when Glinda uses her powers to cause a snowstorm, and columns of fire shoot into the air with the arrival of the Wizard.

Toy apples fall from the sky when Dorothy fights with a talking tree, and Jane Rosenthal, dressed as Glinda the Good Witch, encouraged guests to repeat the phrase "There's no place like Sphere."

The event was a celebration of the enduring appeal of The Wizard of Oz and the power of modern technology to enhance and reimagine classic stories. It's a testament to the future of immersive storytelling, and a must-see for any fan of the beloved film.
