Updated Android 16 and One UI 8 now accessible for additional Samsung Galaxy device owners with older models
Samsung has kicked off the One UI 8 beta programme in May 2025, starting with the Galaxy S25. The programme allows phone owners to test the new software before its official release, but it's important to note that the beta version may not function as smoothly as the final version.
In September, Samsung extended the beta access to devices like the Galaxy S23 series and some older flagship models such as the Z Fold 5. However, the eligibility for devices like the Galaxy A36, A35, A55, or A54 is yet to be confirmed, as the beta programme primarily focuses on newer or flagship devices first. The Samsung Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 are also expected to join the list of eligible devices.
The rollout of the One UI 8 beta has already begun, and users can access it through the Samsung Members app. The One UI beta opt-in tile can typically be found on the homescreen of the Samsung Members app.
The One UI 8 is based on Android 16, and the Galaxy S23 is one of the devices that can now try Android 16 and One UI 8. Over the past month, the Samsung One UI beta programme has expanded to include the Galaxy S24 and other models.
Interestingly, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 were the first devices to receive One UI 8 in July. As the programme continues to grow, more devices are becoming eligible for the beta access.
Rumours suggest another Samsung launch is expected this week, which is rumoured to see the announcement of the Galaxy S25 FE. With the expansion of the One UI 8 beta programme, it's exciting to see how many more devices will be included in the future.
The information about the eligible devices for the One UI 8 beta was reported by 9to5Google. For the latest updates and news on the One UI 8 beta programme, keep an eye on Samsung's official announcements.
