Updated water supply connection installed in Allendorf

In the district of Allendorf, Kahlweg, a new drinking water main pipeline is set to be laid, as part of an ongoing cooperation between Middle Hessian Water Utilities and Stadtwerke Giessen (SWG). The construction, originally scheduled to start in May, has been delayed until August 18, 2025.

SWG, responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the drinking water network in Giessen, is striving to complete the construction work within the planned time frame. The project leader for the construction of the drinking water pipeline system in Kahlweg in the Allendorf district at Stadtwerke Giessen remains undisclosed.

The construction work will cause some disruptions. The street will be closed in sections for traffic, and the sidewalks will be only partially usable due to the pipeline construction. Parking spaces in affected areas will not be available during construction. However, residents can drive up to the construction site. A detour is signposted for through traffic.

Ulli Boos, spokesperson for SWG, explains the measures taken to minimize disturbances during construction. SWG is aware of the inconveniences caused by construction work and is aiming to keep noise and other disturbances low.

The new pipeline will run under both the sidewalk and roadway, and it is intended to supply Giessen with drinking water. The construction of the new pipeline in Allendorf is expected to be completed by the end of September.
