Urban Mishap: Severe vehicle collision in city center leaves 23-year-old significantly hurt
Dortmund City Centre Witnesses Three-Vehicle Collision
In an unexpected turn of events, a busy day in Dortmund's city centre was disrupted by a three-vehicle accident on May 26th.
The incident involved an 86-year-old resident of Dortmund driving a Mercedes. According to initial reports, the elderly driver was attempting to turn left onto Klönne Street from a driveway, but failed to notice a Mercedes driven by a 23-year-old from Lünen approaching from the south. The two Mercedes collided, causing the first vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic and collide head-on with a VW.
The 86-year-old driver, remarkably, emerged unscathed from the accident. However, the 23-year-old from Dortmund sustained minor injuries, and the Lünen resident, unfortunately, sustained severe injuries, initially being in critical condition.
The collision resulted in all three vehicles becoming no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The total estimated damage is approximately 38,000 euros.
The accident caused Klönne Street to be closed in both directions for the accident investigation. The road was reopened at around 8 p.m.
The case number for the incident is 0485. At this time, the name of the head of the traffic accident investigation team of the police directorate Dortmund could not be determined from the search results.
