Cloudburst in Uttarkashi District: Relief and Rescue Operations Underway
A cloudburst occurred in the Devalsari area of the Naugaon region in Uttarkashi district, leading to heavy rainfall and subsequent debris flow. According to reports, the water level in Naugaon Khad and Devalsari Mulana Khad rose around 5:30 pm.
Immediately following the incident, teams from the district administration, SDRF, NDRF, Police, Fire, Revenue, and other departments were dispatched to the affected areas. These teams have reached the site and started relief and rescue operations.
As of now, there have been no reports of any loss of life or animal loss. However, a house in the affected region was inundated with water and debris. As a precautionary measure, houses around the drain have been evacuated.
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister has directed that relief and rescue operations be carried out on a war footing. He has spoken with the District Magistrate about the incident and has stated that clear instructions have been given to ensure that the affected people are moved to safe locations immediately and that there is no delay in providing all possible assistance.
The Uttarakhand Governor has directly ordered the District Magistrate of Uttarkashi to immediately relocate the affected people in the Naugaon area to safer places. The Chief Minister has also prayed to God for everyone's safety and well-being.
The Uttarakhand DIPR shared a video from the region providing information about the incident. The Naugaon-Vikasnagar route is blocked due to debris on the road, but machinery is working to clear the route.
