Vandalism in Gronau: Unidentified individuals damage vehicles and make off with some
On August 26, 2025, an accident occurred at 16:45 on Ochtruper Straße in Gronau. The incident involved a green Renault Trafic and a silver VW Golf.
According to initial reports, the driver of the Renault Trafic was travelling towards the Udo-Lindenberg roundabout, while the VW Golf was illegally overtaking on the left-turn lane of the oncoming traffic. This illegal manoeuvre led to a collision between the two vehicles.
The driver of the VW Golf initially stopped but then fled the scene without fulfilling their legal obligations. The identity of this individual remains unknown. Witnesses described him as a man wearing a red T-shirt and light-colored pants.
The driver of the Renault Trafic turned left at a property entrance during the incident.
The police are now seeking witnesses to the accident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Traffic Commission in Ahaus at Tel. (02561) 9260.
