Las Vegas Breaks Records in November 2024 Calendar, Thanks to F1 Race and SEMA Show

Las Vegas shined bright in the November 2024 calendar, with the city recording impressive numbers across various sectors. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), a total of 3.31 million visitors flocked to the city last month, marking a significant increase from November 2023.

The F1 race and the SEMA auto aftermarket trade show played a crucial role in attracting these visitors. The second year of hosting the F1 race saw a 0.6% increase in visitors compared to November 2023, surpassing the visitation numbers of the previous year.

The revenue per room in November 2024 came in at $162, a 20.8% decrease from $204 in November 2023. However, the Strip average daily rates in November 2024 were $212.49, a decrease of 21% from $270.19 in November 2023. The monthly average daily rate in November 2024 was the second highest for the month of November, at $199.

The strength during November 2024 was weekend occupancy, which was up 0.4 points over the previous year. This increase in weekend visitors contributed to the overall growth in tourism for the city.

However, convention attendance for November 2024 was down 8.4% year-over-year with 548,200 visitors. This decrease in convention attendance was not enough to offset the increase in leisure travelers.

Airport passenger count for the year is up 1.4%, with 4.73 million people passing through Harry Reid International Airport in November 2024, a decrease of 2.1% from 4.83 million in November 2023.

Visitation for the year 2024 is running 2.2% higher than 2023, with a total of 38.2 million visitors. International travelers in November 2024 saw a 16.2% increase, while domestic travel was down 3.3%. For the year, domestic travel is up 0.8%, while international travel at 3.3 million is up 13.6%.

The LVCVA attributes the strong month to the F1 race and the SEMA auto aftermarket trade show. The authority also mentioned that the average daily traffic is up 0.5% across all major highways, and two percent fewer people crossed the Nevada-California border on I-15 in November 2024; that's down 0.6% for the year.

The LVCVA released visitor numbers ahead of the November gaming revenue numbers, which will be released next week. Despite the decrease in revenue per room and average daily rates, the city's tourism sector continues to show signs of recovery and growth.

In terms of air travel, no specific international airlines newly started flights to Las Vegas that are explicitly mentioned in the available sources. However, Virgin Atlantic offers flights between Las Vegas and London but for 2025/2026, and major flights to Las Vegas mainly come from US domestic cities according to Southwest Airlines and Expedia listings.
