Jackpot Digital, the leading dealer-less poker table manufacturer, is showcasing its new Jackpot Blitz electronic poker table at the 2025 World Series of Poker, which just kicked off at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas.
Ah, Sin City. Post-pandemic, you've probably been greeted by machines at check-ins, buffets, or even pushed your own luggage up to your room at resorts like the Excalibur, which eliminated much of its staff earlier this year. It's not just a sanitization measure—these electronic table games (ETGs) have stuck around due to the significant labor cost reduction they provide.
We've seen ETGs, like blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and hybrid craps (a mix of electronic terminals and live dice), at popular spots like the Bellagio, Venetian, Resorts World, Rio, Circus Circus, and Harrah’s. And with the gambling industry facing a downturn, expect ETGs to become a standard feature in more casinos.
Betting on Automation
Enter Jackpot Blitz. This innovative dealer-less poker table could turn poker rooms in Las Vegas into high-tech arcades for casino execs eager to save their own jobs by slimming their staffs.
According to Jackpot Digital's press release, Jackpot Blitz boasts a bang for the buck, thanks to its ability to "dramatically reduce labor expenses and HR staffing, maximizing operational efficiencies for casinos and card rooms."
Back in the day, electronic poker tables existed at the Excalibur for about 15 years but didn't stick. Players found the experience less engaging than live games and harbored trust issues with the random number generators. Fast-forward to now, however, and Vancouver-based Jackpot Digital, which acquired PokerTek back in 2015, has modernized the technology, integrating 84-inch 4K touchscreens and gesture-based gameplay to make them more appealing.
With traditional poker rooms offering lower profits for casinos (approximately $10 per square foot annually vs. $4,000 per square foot for slots), and most of them either having been eliminated or hidden away from gaming floors, automating poker might be the saving grace for the game in Las Vegas.
