Vehicle Collision During Lane Change

On Monday, 9th December 2024, a significant road accident occurred on the A33 towards Osnabrück. The incident involved a Mercedes Sprinter and a tractor-trailer, which collided around 08:05 near the Halle Westfalen and Borgholzhausen junctions.

The 27-year-old driver of the Mercedes Sprinter, from Paderborn, attempted to overtake a truck but lost control due to a wet road. The tractor-trailer, driven by a 64-year-old man from Borchen, overturned, hit the side barrier, and ended up on the left lane. Thankfully, both drivers escaped with relatively minor injuries. The 27-year-old man sustained minor injuries, while the 64-year-old was unharmed.

Following the accident, the road towards Osnabrück was initially closed for clean-up operations due to spilled fuel. A towing company successfully removed the overturned refrigerated truck, making the road passable again. However, cleaning operations are still ongoing.

The total damage amounted to approximately 11,900 euros.
