On August 26, 2025, at 16:45, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Gronau, specifically at the Ochtruper Straße. The incident involved a green Renault Trafic and a silver VW Golf.

According to the Kreispolizeibehörde Borken, the initial reports suggest that the driver of the Renault Trafic stopped briefly after the collision but then left the scene without fulfilling their legal obligations. The driver of the VW Golf, described by witnesses as wearing a red T-shirt and light-colored pants, also failed to remain at the scene after the accident.

The vehicles were travelling in the direction of the Udo-Lindenberg roundabout when the collision occurred. The Renault Trafic was overtaking in a manner contrary to traffic rules, while the exact circumstances leading to the collision with the VW Golf are still under investigation.

Witnesses to the incident are being sought, and anyone with information is asked to contact the traffic commission in Ahaus under Tel. (02561) 9260. The police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or has information about the drivers involved to come forward.
