Vehicle Inflamed on Schloßallee - Fire Department of Bocholt Responding to Incident
On Saturday evening, the Bocholt Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on Schloßallee. The incident, which lasted for approximately 2.5 hours, began when a tow truck was engulfed in flames.
Fortunately, the driver of the tow truck was alerted to the fire by attentive cyclists and was able to stop the vehicle and escape unharmed. However, attempts to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher were unsuccessful.
Upon arrival, the fire department deployed 10 personnel and 4 vehicles to combat the blaze. The tow truck was fully engulfed in flames, and the adjacent green strip had also caught fire. The fire department used a C-jet nozzle and heavy breathing apparatus to fight the blaze, and their actions prevented further spread of the fire.
Due to the use of water, the lower water authority of Borken district and the city of Bocholt's public order office were involved. To treat the affected area, an oil-binding agent was used.
The police provided support on site during the incident. No further information is available about the cause of the fire or the condition of the tow truck after the incident. A contracted disposal company will collect and dispose of the contaminated material professionally.
