Vehicle rams sidewalk during parking, breaches fence, and comes to a stop on a playground slope in Rheinfelden

In Freiburg, Germany, an unexpected incident occurred on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at approximately 13:40. An 86-year-old driver attempted to reverse into a side parking spot on Lenbachstraße, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse.

The car veered off the road, driving onto a playground. The vehicle went over a curb, onto the sidewalk, broke through a sturdy wooden fence, and came to a halt on a two-meter-high hill. The incident left the driver's car with significant rear-end damage, and the fence is estimated to have sustained around 5,000 euros worth of damage.

Luckily, the women and children who were on the sidewalk during the incident were frightened but not endangered. There were two women with a group of children on the sidewalk in front of and behind the elderly driver's car during the incident.
