In an unexpected incident that unfolded in Rheinstetten-Mörsch on Tuesday afternoon, a car and a tram collided, causing a minor stir in the community.

At around 15:10, a BMW driving west collided with a tram heading towards Karlsruhe at the roundabout located at Rappenwörthstraße/Mörscher Straße. The driver of the car, an 81-year-old individual, failed to notice the approaching tram, resulting in the collision.

The impact of the collision caused the car to be pushed along by the tram. The driver was slightly injured and trapped in the vehicle. Fortunately, the injuries sustained were minor. A bystander assisting with the rescue efforts did receive a minor cut but did not require medical attention.

Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene to rescue the injured driver from her vehicle. The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The bystander, too, did not require hospitalisation.

The traffic police have taken over the investigation and are appealing to any witnesses of the accident to come forward with any information they may have. The extent of the property damage is still being assessed.

The tram continued its journey towards Karlsruhe following the incident, and no further disruptions to the service were reported. The incident serves as a reminder for drivers to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, especially in busy urban areas.
