In the world of cinema, the Venice Film Festival is a prestigious platform for new and exciting films. This year, the festival will welcome "A Loose End," a multigenre feature directed by Daniel Hendler.

The movie, starring Sergio Prina, Pilar Gamboa, Uruguayan musician Alberto Wolf, and César Troncoso, is about Santiago, an Argentinian corporal, who finds himself in a unique predicament. Santiago is the protagonist of the movie, and he winds through neighboring Uruguay, evading detection and heavily relying on his uniform's authority.

"A Loose End" portrays the feeling of being between two worlds, on the precipice of belonging to something brand new, that sits just out of reach. It captures the sleepy and aesthetic landscapes of Uruguay, and the movie conveys the discomfort of the 'non-place' and invites the audience to discover the possibility of transformation.

The structure of the movie is described as being somewhere between a detective story, a comedy, and a strange road movie. Santiago's priorities in the movie shift from mere survival to curating a new future in the countryside. The movie is comforting in its empathetic portrayal of Santiago, who isn't judged for his past actions and mistakes because he's willing to rebuild and start over.

Lucía and Julia Meik, who head Meikincine, the distributors of the movie, express their excitement about the world premiere of "A Loose End" at the Venice International Film Festival. The movie won the WIP Latam Industry Award at San Sebastian last year, further cementing its place as a film to watch.

After its Venice premiere, "A Loose End" heads back to the Spanish festival for its prestigious Horizontes Latinos program in September. The production companies involved in the making of the film are Micaela Solé at Uruguay's Cordón Films, Ezequiel Borovinsky at Argentina's Wanka Cine, Luis Collar and Jorge Moreno at Spain's Nephilim Producciones, and co-produced Laura Baumeister's breakout feature "Daughter of Rage."

Daniel Hendler, the director of "A Loose End," has previously directed movies such as "Norberto's Deadline," "The Candidate," and has collaborated on scripts with notable Argentinian directors like Daniel Burman, Ariel Winograd, and Natalia Meta. He describes the movie as being similar to a transitional state before entering wakefulness, and a recurring dream where one is driving a car out of control.

In essence, "A Loose End" is a film about second chances, transformation, and the discomfort of being in between. It's a journey worth taking, and we can't wait to see where it leads.
