In the picturesque town of Arnsberg, a series of graffiti workshops have recently taken place, resulting in two stunning works of art that have transformed the local landscape.

The workshops, which were part of the Family Office's vacation programme, took place over the past and current weeks, and were a collaboration between the Family Office, the local youth fire brigade, and Arnsberg Fire History e.V. The events were guided by graffiti artists from "Sprühduo" in Soest, who taught 16 children and young people the art of spraying.

The first workshop focused on the outer wall of the fire museum "Brennpunkt", creating a real eye-catcher with Arnsberg landmarks. The second workshop took place near the train station, where a WC container was transformed into a visual masterpiece, depicting a picture related to the fire department and Arnsberg. The designed wall area was a grand 32 x 4 meters.

The style and colour scheme of both artworks are similar to the museum artwork, making them a harmonious addition to the town's aesthetic. The artwork at the train station will be visible to everyone arriving by train in the future, serving as an optical enhancement for the train station area.

The workshops were funded by the Cultural Office of the city of Arnsberg, which supports urban arts. If preserved, both artworks could be a permanent feature of Arnsberg, adding to the town's cultural richness.

Mayor Bittner visited the last workshop day to see the (not yet completed) artwork, and a guided tour in "Brennpunkt" was offered as part of the workshops. For further questions, interested parties can contact the Fire Department of the City of Arnsberg at [email protected] or www.feuerwehr-arnsberg.de.

The responsibility for the future maintenance of the two graffiti works at the Arnsberg station rests with the city of Hagen, specifically managed by the Kulturbüro Hagen, which oversees cultural initiatives including legal graffiti spaces and their regulations. This office ensures sustainable use and care of these designated graffiti areas.

These workshops have not only resulted in beautiful art, but have also provided a unique and engaging experience for the participating children and young people, while contributing to the cultural vibrancy of Arnsberg.
