Vibrant march at the household and costume celebration in Burg, showcasing a kaleidoscope of colours.
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, the village of Burg in the Spreewald region came alive with the sounds of music and the colours of traditional costumes as the Heimat- und Trachtenfest took place in its village centre.
This annual event, which began on Friday, is a celebration of the region's culture, particularly the Sorbian culture, and offers a diverse range of scheduled events. This year, the focus was on the children and youth program, with activities such as Hahnrupfen, a traditional market, and a parade with folk costumes.
Among the scheduled events was a comedy show titled "Forward always - Never backward!!!", a DDR-themed performance that added to the festival's vibrant atmosphere. Music lovers were treated to a concert by Dieter Hertrampf, known as "Quaster", a former Puhdys guitarist, and his group, Quaster & Friends, who took to the stage on Sunday.
The Heimat and Trachtenfest also featured a folk dance performance, adding to the festival's rich cultural offerings. Beate KeΓler, a member of the event team, confirmed that the festival was well-attended.
As the sun set, the village square was filled with the laughter of children, the sound of music, and the sight of people dressed in colourful folk costumes. The Heimat and Trachtenfest continues to be a beloved annual event in the Spreewald region, showcasing the region's unique customs and traditions.
