Vibrant Playground Abounding in Greenery Opens on Hummelweg

A new playground is set to open in the "Am Elisenpark" residential area, offering a fun and safe space for children of all ages. The construction of the playground cost around 275,000 euros, with the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern supporting it with 10,000 euros.

The playground is fenced all around for safety, with a sturdy steel mesh fence separating it from the walking and cycling path. A wooden privacy fence was erected towards adjacent private properties, decorated with a chalkboard, a spinning wheel, and colorful animal figures.

The playground, which spans approximately 700 square meters, will be accessible via two entrances and will feature equipment for different age groups, including for children with disabilities. It will include a triple swing, a wheelchair-accessible carousel, a large climbing structure, two slides, a balance beam, a baby swing, a nest swing, and a seesaw.

In addition to the play equipment, the playground will also boast a seating area with a table and several benches for relaxation. Around 400 shrubs and various hedges will provide more greenery, and eight trees, including two larger specimens, have been planted around the play area.

The work was carried out by the company Gartenprofi Wuttig Landscape Construction GbR from Usedom in about three months. An existing culvert bridge was upgraded with railings and floor covering for traffic safety, and an old apple tree at the entrance of the playground was retained and integrated into the design.

The official opening of the new playground is scheduled for July 22, 2025, and will be attended by numerous guests. Bike racks and waste bins are available for user convenience, and new indirect LED lighting ensures a pleasant atmosphere during evening hours.
