Visual alert issued over rumors of a deadly train collision at the train station
In the Göttingen district of Lower Saxony, a tragic incident has occurred. A 16-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by a freight train at Friedland station.
The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, and the police are still investigating the incident at full speed. Many witnesses have been questioned, but no official statements have been released yet.
The border transit camp Friedland, located on the border with Thuringia and Hesse, has been at the centre of speculations due to the girl's death. The camp, which has existed since 1945, is the only such facility in Germany for late repatriates and is situated in the south of Lower Saxony.
There have been suggestions that the girl might have been harassed by young people from the border transit camp. However, these allegations have not been confirmed, and the police are reserving the right to examine legal steps regarding the spread of possible false information.
The AfD district association Eichsfeld has questioned the official version of the girl's death, even going so far as to suggest murder. Yet, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The girl's family has reportedly approached political parties for support in the investigation. A donation appeal for the burial of the 16-year-old girl, Liana Kassay, was launched by supporters in Thuringia via an online donation portal. Markus Janitzki and his friends initiated the campaign to financially support the Kassay family for the funeral expenses. As of now, more than 2,400 euros have been collected.
The Lower Saxony State Reception Office manages the border transit camp Friedland, where refugees from humanitarian reception programs and asylum seekers are initially accommodated before being distributed to the federal states.
The police are urging the public to refrain from speculating on the course of the incident on social networks, as the information circulating does not correspond to the truth according to the investigators. They assure that they are doing everything in their power to uncover the truth and bring justice for the girl and her family.
