In light of the ongoing anti-terrorist measures, the live mass march "Immortal Regiment" has been cancelled this year. However, the spirit of remembrance lives on, as the city of Yakutsk has introduced the "City of Heroes" campaign to honour those who forged victory, sacrificed their lives, or endured hardships during the Great Patriotic War.

Initiated by Vladimir Fedorov, a prominent politician and public figure, the "City of Heroes" campaign is being conducted via Telegram, email, and WhatsApp. Yakutians are encouraged to send photos, names, and dates of birth of their relatives and participants of the Great Patriotic War to the email address [email protected] or via WhatsApp to +7 914 271 4035. The deadline for submissions is 7 May.

The "Immortal Regiment" event will take place online this year, as part of the "City of Heroes" campaign. Yakutians can participate in the "Immortal Regiment" event in another format, such as placing portraits of veterans on clothes, social networks, or cars.

The "City of Heroes" campaign aims to remember the names of all heroes, and their photos will be displayed in the most visible and busy places in Yakutsk. This is an opportunity for Yakutians to honour and remember their relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War.

Fedorov also encourages reposts of the campaign on social media pages and WhatsApp groups to ensure every Yakutian can pay tribute to their relatives. The online platform for uploading photos and stories of relatives - veterans of the Great Patriotic War is www.polkrf.ru.

The "City of Heroes" campaign is part of the "Immortal Regiment" event for Victory Day, which is usually a live mass march but has gone online due to the current circumstances. Despite the changes, the spirit of remembrance and honour remains strong in Yakutsk.
