VMA Awards 2025 - Nominees, Artists Performing, and Key Information About This Year's Event in New York City

The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are back, and this year promises to be a spectacular event. Scheduled to take place on September 7th at UBS Arena in Elmont, the VMAs will bring together some of the biggest names in music for an unforgettable night.

Performers

The lineup for this year's VMAs is nothing short of impressive. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, YUNGBLUD, Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt, Ricky Martin, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin ft. DJ Snake, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Sombr, Alex Warren, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, Post Malone, and more will take the stage to perform their hits. Additionally, Ozzy Osbourne will be part of a tribute performance, and Mariah Carey will perform a career-spanning medley of her biggest hits while receiving the Video Vanguard Award. Busta Rhymes will also receive the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award.

Nominees

The nominations for the VMAs are as diverse and exciting as the performers. Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed closely by The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar with 8 each. The categories for the awards include Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Artist, MTV Push Performance of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Hip-Hop, Best R&B, Best Alternative, and Best Rock.

Some of the nominees for Video of the Year include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, ROSE & Bruno Mars, Sabrina Carpenter, and The Weeknd, Playboi Carti. In the Artist of the Year category, Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd are all in the running.

In the Best Collaboration category, some of the nominees include Bailey Zimmerman with Luke Combs, Kendrick Lamar & SZA, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars, Post Malone ft. Blake Shelton, ROSE & Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, benny blanco, and Travis Scott. The Best Pop Artist nominees include Ariana Grande, Charli xcx, Justin Bieber, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tate McRae.

The Best Hip-Hop category features Doechii, Drake, Eminem ft. Jelly Roll, GloRilla ft. Sexyy Red, Kendrick Lamar, LL COOL J ft. Eminem, and Travis Scott. In the Best R&B category, Chris Brown, Leon Thomas & Freddie Gibbs, Mariah Carey, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Summer Walker, SZA, and The Weeknd, Playboi Carti are all nominated.

The Best Rock category includes Coldplay, Evanescence, Green Day, Lenny Kravitz, Linkin Park, and twenty one pilots. In the Best New Artist category, Alex Warren, Ella Langley, Gigi Perez, The Marías, and Lola Young are all contenders for the award.

Voting and Awards

Voting for the awards is now open, and music buffs can submit up to 20 votes per day. The winners will be announced during the live broadcast of the VMAs on September 7th.
