Volkswagen is set to launch the second generation of its popular T-Roc SUV before the end of the year. The new model, often referred to as the "Golf for the tough," promises to meet current demands in the SUV segment and features electrified drive systems.

The latest T-Roc is 13 centimeters longer, measuring 4.37 meters, and boasts a wheelbase that has been extended by three centimeters. This expansion offers more interior space for passengers and cargo.

The entry-level versions of the new T-Roc will offer either 116 or 150 horsepower, with a 204 horsepower model joining the range later. However, Volkswagen has decided against a plug-in hybrid in the latest generation. Instead, for the first time, hybrid models that can drive short distances purely electrically will be available.

The new T-Roc will only feature gasoline engines supported by hybrid technology. This decision aligns with Volkswagen's CEO's recent statement about the future of internal combustion engines.

Assistance systems in the new T-Roc have been revised and improved, ensuring a safer and more comfortable driving experience. Notable additions include a head-up display and an illuminated LCD controller in the center tunnel.

The new T-Roc will be unveiled to the public at this year's IAA in Munich. Pricing details have not been disclosed as of yet.

This marks the third new SUV model Volkswagen has launched in 2021. The new T-Roc, equipped with efficient mild-hybrid turbocharged petrol engines (eTSI) and a 7-speed DSG transmission, is poised to continue the T-Roc's success story.
