Community Honours Local Heroes in Obertraubling

In a heartwarming ceremony, County Councilor Tanja Schweiger thanked the citizens of Obertraubling for their dedication and engagement at both community and county levels. The event, organised by the volunteer agency, recognised the exceptional contributions of several individuals and groups.

Among those honoured were Josef Froschhammer, Erich Lichtenegger, Johann Lehner, Josef Alzinger, Wilhelm Eisenbeis, Ulrich Brill, Alfred Loritz, Martin Soetz, Thomas Hengl, and Albert Schiegl, who were presented with certificates for their long-standing service.

The Bavarian Volunteer Card in Blue was awarded to Hermann Achmann, Soleil Voelkl, Erna Ellmann, Eva and Nico Kroseberg, Gabriela Seitz, and Rolf and Hansjuergen Kroseberg for their volunteer engagement. Gabriela Seitz and Rolf and Hansjuergen Kroseberg received the Bavarian Volunteer Card in Gold for their over 25-year commitment.

Markus Kellner, a key figure in the community, received the Bayerischer Ministerpraesident's honorary award for his engagement in the filial church St. Johannes Baptist of the parish Wolkering-Gebelkofen since 1998. Kellner, who founded the choir KlangWoGe in 2002, has been the sole organist at the church for many years and has built up a small church choir.

Kellner's responsibilities extend beyond music. He organizes all necessary preparations for the choir's rehearsals, which span several weeks, and prepares the young people for their roles over many weeks. He also plans various leisure activities, especially the annual summer camp. Kellner was elected as the secretary and treasurer of the OGV Gebelkofen in 2003 and has been involved as a youth group leader since 2000.

Sieglinde Baumann, another recipient of the Bayerischer Ministerpraesident's honorary award, was recognised for her long-standing service in the St. Michael Eitlbrunn church administration.

The event was made even more special by the music provided by the jazz and folk trio "Adabei". Sabine Boxan, Marianne Neuner, and Gerdi Raith from the OGV Woerth contributed to the occasion with beautiful flower decorations.

Karl Span, a long-time member of the Obertraubling sports club, was also honoured. Span, who has coached various handball teams in the club, including the women's team that was promoted to the Landesliga in 2014, was recognised for his dedication to the sport.

The community of Obertraubling came together to celebrate the achievements of its citizens, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of these individuals and groups. The event was a testament to the spirit of volunteerism and community engagement that thrives in the town.
