Voting for the Council Delegates
The city of Detmold is gearing up for the election of its Integration Council, a local committee representing the interests of residents with an immigration background. The elections are scheduled for September, and in preparation, a series of information events have been announced.
The first event will take place on Wednesday, May 14th, at 5:30 PM, in the Reconciliation Church on Hiddeser Berg, Martin-Luther-Straße 39. Further events are scheduled for Thursday, May 15th at 5:30 PM at the Kleingaertnerverein Kampwiese in Detmold-Herberhausen, and Wednesday, June 11th at 5:30 PM at the city portal's meeting center, Paulinenstraße 65. The final event will be held on Thursday, June 12th, at 5:30 PM at the AWO in Heidenoldendorf in the old primary school, Niedernfeldweg 6.

The Integration Council advises the city council and administration, organises its own events, and cooperates with the state integration council. Common topics for the Integration Council include anti-discrimination work, educational issues for children with an immigration background, and inter-cultural dialogue.
Eligibility to be elected to the Integration Council is open to Detmold residents of any origin, aged at least 18 and having their primary residence in Detmold for at least three months. Eligible to vote in the Integration Council election are foreign nationals and stateless persons residing in Detmold, naturalized persons, Germans with dual citizenship, and Germans who acquired citizenship by birth in Germany to foreign parents.
