In an exciting new adventure, the travel team at Wandering Bird Adventures have embarked on a motorhome tour through the majestic Alps. This journey is documented in their latest series, "Motorhome touring Europe Part 3- The Alps in March."

Kathryn Bird, the founder of one of the UK's largest motorhome travel websites, and her team, set off from Genoa, Italy, and travelled north to Alessandria, then west past Turin on the A21, which becomes the A55 and goes into the A43 on the French side.

Their route took them through the heart of the Alps, a journey that was initially planned due to the uncertain weather conditions, which led them to stick to the main roads until they got into the mountains. Despite the thick snow piled up on the sides, the roads were clearer than expected.

As they journeyed through the Alps, they passed several ski resorts, adding a touch of winter wonderland to their tour. The sunshine that accompanied them made their journey even more enjoyable.

Snowchains were compulsory in several countries, including France and Italy, and the travelers were prepared with the necessary equipment. 'Aire de Chainage' was a common sight, offering places to fit or remove the snowchains. In Italy, winter tyres are recommended between October and mid-April.

The travelers stopped at a French aire in Cesana, a charming village with wooden chalets and posh shops. Cesana was part of the 2006 Winter Olympics, which were held from February 10 to February 26.

The travelers were mindful of their safety, ensuring they did not burn out their brakes during their trip through the Alps. They also emphasised the importance of appropriate clothing for travelling through the region.

The aire they stayed at cost 12€ and had electric hookup and waste facilities, except for a toilet. The next stop on their journey was Lake Annecy.
