Weapons-restricted Zone: Trails Within

In Hanau, police conducted a control action last Thursday evening in the weapon-free platform zone, which has been established in the city centre since August 1, 2025. The deployment forces were on foot patrol, focusing on Freedom Square, Market Square, and Castle Park, among other areas.

Thomas Leipold, Felix Geis, Claudia Benneckenstein, Maximilian Edelbluth, and the press office at Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse (ppsoh) are the contact points for any inquiries. You can reach them at Spessartring 61, 63071 Offenbach am Main, via telephone, fax, or their official website.

During the action, a total of 24 individuals were controlled between 15:00 and 23:00 hours. In Castle Park, a 23-year-old resident of Hanau was found to be in violation of the Weapons Act, as he had a prohibited one-handed knife with him.

Police spokesman Daniel Mรผller emphasised the importance of enforcing rules, stating that rules only have an effect if they are enforced, and that the controls ensure the weapon-free platform zone is more than just a piece of paper or signs.

The weapon-free platform zone covers large parts of the city centre, including Freedom Square, Market Square, Forum Hanau, Castle Garden, and numerous side streets, passages, and squares. In the designated areas, the carrying of firearms, bladed weapons, knives of all kinds, and electroshock devices is prohibited.

Further controls like this are planned by the police in Hanau. For more information, please contact the Police Headquarters Southeast Hesse.
