Weekend Arrest Operations Conducted by Federal Police in NRW, BPOL NRW
On Sunday evening, the Federal Police made two significant arrests in various parts of Germany.
In the first instance, a 25-year-old Romanian was controlled at the train station in Gronau. The individual, who entered Germany from the Netherlands, was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Dresden with an arrest warrant for burglary. After completing the necessary police measures, he was taken to the prison in Münster to serve his sentence.
Simultaneously, on the A52 highway, the Federal Police controlled a 46-year-old Albanian as a passenger in a car entering from the Netherlands. The Albanian, who had a remaining prison sentence of 404 days to serve, was also wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office, this time in Cottbus, for smuggling foreigners.
The events unfolded in the areas of Kleve, Emmerich, Gronau, and Niederkrüchten.
It is worth noting that the Federal Police Directorate is located in Sankt Augustin, and the Federal Police Inspectorate is in Kleve. The Federal Police reintroduced temporary border controls at all land-based Schengen internal borders on September 16, 2024, at the order of the Federal Minister of the Interior and for Homeland.
In a separate incident, a 49-year-old Czech entered Germany on the A61 highway on Friday evening. He had an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Cottbus for smuggling foreigners. After police measures were completed, the Czech was taken to the Federal Police Station in Kempen and then to the prison in Willich.
Another individual, a 25-year-old Romanian, was controlled at the train station in Gronau. He had an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Osnabrück for indecent exposure. After paying a fine of 2,600 euros or serving a 65-day prison sentence, he was released.
The Albanian, who had two grams of hashish with him, had to pay a fine of 8,900 euros or serve an 89-day prison sentence. Since he could not pay the fine, he was taken to the prison in Willich to serve his sentence.
It is currently unclear who the head of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin is, as there is no publicly available information in the search results.
