Weekend Arrest Warrant Executions by Federal Police in BPOL NRW
In a series of recent incidents, the Federal Police in Germany have been active in apprehending individuals wanted for various offences.
Last Friday evening, a 49-year-old Czech entered the federal territory on the A61 highway as a passenger in replacement bus traffic. However, it was discovered that there was an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Cottbus for the smuggling of foreigners against the 49-year-old. A search revealed that he had two grams of hashish in his possession. The man still has to pay a fine of €8,900 or serve an 89-day prison sentence. As he was unable to pay the fine of €2,600, he was taken to the prison in Münster to serve his 65-day prison sentence after the completion of police measures.
On a separate occasion, on Sunday evening, July 20, 2025, the Federal Police controlled a 25-year-old Romanian at the train station in Gronau. The individual was found to have an entry and residence ban from the Foreigners' Office in Dresden.
The most recent arrest was made on July 18, 2025, when the Federal Police stopped a 46-year-old Albanian on the A52 highway upon entry from the Netherlands. A data check on his personal details revealed that he is wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Dresden for a suspended sentence of 404 days for burglary. The Albanian was a passenger in a car. Since the convicted person could not pay the fine, the Federal Police took him to the prison in Willich to serve his sentence.
It is worth noting that the Federal Police Directorate in Sankt Augustin, headed by Barbara Heuser, honoured Udo Peltzer upon his retirement at the end of August 2025.
These incidents underscore the ongoing efforts by the Federal Police to maintain security and uphold the law within Germany's borders. Temporary border controls at all land-based Schengen internal borders, ordered by the Federal Minister of the Interior and for Home Affairs, were reintroduced by the Federal Police on September 16, 2024.
In a separate case, the Public Prosecutor's Office in Osnabrück was looking for a man with an arrest warrant for indecent exposure. The details of this case are still under investigation.
