Weekly reports from Willich Police Department unveil incidents involving police assault, arson, and further disturbances
In the small town of Willich, two separate incidents have caused concern in the community.
On Wednesday evening, at around 7:15 PM, a 10-year-old boy had a serious accident on the Skaterbahn in Schiefbahn. The young boy fell off his mountain bike, resulting in severe injuries that required hospitalization. Fortunately, the boy's life was not in danger. He was airlifted to a hospital for immediate medical treatment.
In a separate incident, on Tuesday evening at 6 PM, a 57-year-old woman from Willich was cycling on Lindenstraße in Anrath when she lost control and fell, causing severe injuries. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in Neersen, a large hall (approximately 20 by 30 meters) containing straw and waste caught fire on Tuesday to Wednesday. Firefighters and police responded to the fire on Cloerbruchallee, but the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined. Arson cannot be ruled out, and an initial inspection by arson investigators from the Criminal Commissioner 1 indicated that an expert must be consulted to determine the cause of the fire.
In connection with the fire, a 19-year-old woman from Willich is under investigation for dangerous bodily harm and assault on police officers. A voluntary breathalyzer test on the woman showed a reading of 1.32 per mille. Two officers were slightly injured, and a female officer had to spend a night in the hospital but has since been discharged due to the altercation with the 19-year-old.
Investigators from KK1 are looking for witnesses who may have been in the area on Tuesday night or earlier and noticed anything suspicious. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police at telephone number 02162 3770.
The hall where the fire occurred in Neersen remains sealed off for investigations. The location of the accident on Wednesday was the Skaterbahn in Schiefbahn.
The police and fire department urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
