"Westlake set to purchase the compounding solutions division of ACI, which operates a plant in Romania"
Westlake Corporation, a global manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers, and building products, has announced an agreement to acquire the global compounding solutions businesses of the ACI/Perplastic Group. The deal is expected to close in early 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
The ACI/Perplastic Group, a Portugal-based global manufacturer of specialty materials serving the wire and cable sectors, operates four production facilities located in Mexico, Portugal, Romania, and Tunisia. These facilities manufacture polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyolefin, silicone, and thermoplastic rubber compounds.
Westlake produces PVC compounds and polyethylene, and this acquisition aims to expand its offerings in the global market. The company is headquartered in Houston and has operations in Asia, Europe, and North America.
ACI had net sales of approximately EUR 210 million at the end of 2024, and the company expects net sales of approximately $3 billion in 2025. The transaction will bring Westlake's total sales to over $6 billion, further solidifying its position in the global market.
Westlake Corporation is listed on the NYSE under the ticker symbol WLK. The closing of the transaction is contingent upon meeting customary closing conditions and receiving regulatory approvals.
ACI is headquartered in Portugal's Guarda. The acquisition involves the global compounding solutions businesses of the ACI/Perplastic Group, which will be integrated into Westlake's existing operations.
This acquisition is expected to provide Westlake with a significant presence in Europe and strengthen its position in the global wire and cable market. The company looks forward to working with ACI's talented team and leveraging its expertise to deliver innovative solutions to customers around the world.
