Widespread power failure hits Wiesbaden, impacting multiple neighborhoods
Power Outage in Wiesbaden: A Quick Response from Emergency Services
A power outage that affected six districts in Wiesbaden, including Auringen, Breckenheim, Bierstadt, Medenbach, Naurod, and Nordost, occurred on Friday evening around 6 p.m. The city swiftly responded to the situation, with the central control center reinforcing personnel to handle the emergency.
The disaster protection lighthouses, staffed by the volunteer fire departments in the affected districts, were operational during the power outage. These lighthouses provided a central point of contact for citizens, where they could report emergencies and obtain information. At Fire Station 1, a command post was formed by fire department and emergency service leaders to assess the situation.
During the outage, an ambulance was dispatched due to a patient dependent on a home ventilator. Thankfully, ESWE Supply managed to gradually restore power within about an hour.
The leaders who were on duty at Fire Tower 1 during the power outage and directed the emergency were the fire chief and the emergency response coordinator.
