WNBA Recognizes Allisha Gray and A'ja Wilson as Players of the Month for August

In a thrilling month of August, both the Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream have made significant strides, with standout performances from A'ja Wilson and Allisha Gray propelling their teams into the playoff race.

The Las Vegas Aces set a new franchise record for single-season victories in August, extending their winning streak to 12 games, tying a franchise record. This impressive run was spearheaded by Wilson, who continues to dominate the WNBA.

Wilson, the reigning WNBA MVP, averaged an impressive 25.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.4 steals in 13 games during August. Her stellar play earned her three consecutive Player of the Week awards and her 13th WNBA Player of the Month honor, a record-breaking achievement that surpasses Tina Charles.

Wilson's impressive statistics in August include eight double-doubles and six 30-point games. Moreover, she leads the WNBA in blocks per game (2.2), points off turnovers (4.6), and second-chance points (3.7) through September 1.

Meanwhile, Allisha Gray has been a consistent force for the Atlanta Dream. She logged her 37th consecutive double-digit scoring effort in August and surpassed 400 career 3-pointers. Gray also broke Atlanta Dream's single-season scoring record previously held by Angel McCoughtry.

Gray's top performance in August came against Minnesota, where she scored 27 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and recorded 3 steals. Her exceptional play earned her the WNBA Player of the Month award in the Eastern Conference, making her the first guard in WNBA history to win the monthly award three times in a single season.

The balance of emerging and established talent in both teams is a testament to their success. The Atlanta Dream clinched a playoff berth with a 9-3 record in August, while the Las Vegas Aces continue their pursuit of the top spot in the Western Conference.

As the playoffs approach, the spotlight remains on A'ja Wilson and Allisha Gray, two players who have consistently delivered outstanding performances throughout the 2025 season. Wilson currently ranks second in scoring (23.4), rebounds (10.1), and total blocks (80) in the WNBA, demonstrating her versatility and dominance on the court.

The all-time record for the number of WNBA players who have won the Player of the Month award more than 13 times remains at one player, with A'ja Wilson currently holding that position. As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see if she can continue her record-breaking streak and lead the Las Vegas Aces to the WNBA championship.
