Focus on the thwarted attack in Wolfsburg - Wolfsburg Raid Investigation Spotlight: The Unsuccessful Operation in the Klette Trial

In the ongoing trial of former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette at the Verden Regional Court, focus is on a failed robbery that took place in Wolfsburg on December 28, 2025. The trial, which began in late March, is also examining incidents in Cremlingen and other locations across Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Schleswig-Holstein.

According to investigators, Klette, along with Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub, are accused of carrying out cash-in-transit and supermarket robberies. In the Wolfsburg incident, the trio is said to have threatened a money courier with a pistol and managed to box in a cash-in-transit vehicle with two cars. DNA traces from the incident led to the identification of Klette, Staub, and Garweg.

The driver of the cash-in-transit vehicle managed to escape during the incident, but the trio made off with an estimated 1.4 million euros. The incidents in Wolfsburg and Cremlingen will continue to be examined until the end of September, according to a court spokeswoman.

Three witnesses will be heard in the trial on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. However, a statement from the defendant, Daniela Klette, is not planned for that day. The exact date of the next witness hearings was confirmed by the court spokeswoman.

Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub are said to be on the run, while Klette is in custody. The trio is said to have obtained more than 2.7 million euros in total for their underground life.

The trial is a significant development in the efforts to bring the perpetrators of these robberies to justice. As the trial progresses, more details about the incidents and the involvement of the accused are expected to come to light.
