Women's choir performing waltz melodies during the cultural festival's summer season
In the heart of summer 2025, a unique ensemble of professional musicians will embark on a captivating journey through the picturesque Arnsberg region. Known as "Ensemble Unterwegs," this group of four talented individuals will be conducting a multi-day hiking concert tour, performing in the wilderness and more intimate settings.
The tour commences on Tuesday, August 19, with the opening concert at Wildwald Vosswinkel at 3:30 PM. This concert is included in the Wildwald entrance fee, offering visitors a double treat of breathtaking landscapes and enchanting music.
On August 24, the tour concludes with a closing concert in the Auferstehungskirche on Neumarkt at 5 PM.
Throughout their journey, the musicians will carry their essentials and instruments, including violin, viola, cello, and soprano. They value German folk songs and aim to keep alive traditional cultural heritage, including regional dialect songs.
The ensemble has developed into a long-term, intensive collaboration and a unique group. They perform a vibrant blend of soprano voice and string trio, offering a one-of-a-kind auditory experience.
During their tour, the musicians engage in intense contact with the audience, bringing music directly and spontaneously to the people. They seek to open up a new audience for classical music and liberate concerts from rigid structures.
The diverse encounters with people and nature provide material for unique stories that they incorporate into their concerts. The wandering concerts are self-moderated by the musicians, expanding communication with the audience.
Admission and seating for the closing concert are free, but the number of seats is limited. For the Wildwald Vosswinkel concert, the entrance fee covers the event.
The "Ensemble Unterwegs" Tour 2025 marks a continuation of a musical hiking project that began in the summer of 2009. Over the years, they have explored new landscapes annually during the summer, performing mainly in nature and at "guest appearances" in more private settings.
The ensemble performs well-known art songs, such as those by Schubert, Strauss, Mahler, or Britten, as well as lesser-known pieces from obscure or rarely performed repertoire. Their goal is to provide a fresh and engaging take on classical music, appealing to both seasoned connoisseurs and newcomers alike.
As they traverse the Arnsberg region from August 19 to 24, the musicians will be embarking on a multi-day hike, carrying their instruments and essentials. They seek encounters and exchanges their music for food and lodging during their journey.
This summer, don't miss the opportunity to witness this extraordinary ensemble as they bring their enchanting music to the Arnsberg region. Whether you're a classical music enthusiast or simply seeking a unique experience, the "Ensemble Unterwegs" Tour 2025 promises an unforgettable journey of sound and spirit.
