Unleashing Women in Poker: Introducing the Women's Winter Fest

Showcasing its commitment to uplifting women in poker, PokerStars is ready to launch an engaging new event called the Women's Winter Festival. This announcement was made during the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona, emphasizing PokerStars' dedication to create more inclusive opportunities for female poker players. Scheduled from November 21 to 24, this groundbreaking event offers a unique platform for both newbies and veterans to excel.

Celebrating Women in PokerAlready a significant event, the 2024 EPT Barcelona celebration honored the rich Spanish culture and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the tour. However, PokerStars turned up the excitement by unveiling something extraordinary – the Women's Winter Festival. The event was announced during a special Ladies Day Breakfast meet and greet prior to the €550 Women's Event at Casino Barcelona. Kerryjane Craigie, a pokerstars ambassador and genius behind this project, made the announcement.

With a grand vision of fostering participation and delivering "empowering results," the Women's Winter Festival aims to increase the number of women participating in live poker events. Kicking things off, the festival will offer a £100,000 guarantee on its Main Event, a tournament highlight likely to garner wide interest.

Innovative Spirit Driving the FestivalPokerStars has been a staunch supporter of women's poker for some time now, having previously collaborated with Women Poker Power on projects like the Women's Boot Camp[3]. With the Women's Winter Festival, female poker players find themselves in the limelight like never before. This event was significantly influenced by Ambassador Kerryjane Craigie due to her understanding of the unique challenges women face in poker, as well as insights gained from international focus groups of female players.

Craigie aspires for the Women's Winter Festival to address women's concerns and aspirations head-on. Excited about the event, she says, "It gave me goosebumps when we locked in the schedule and details." Her hands-on approach, demonstrated through her role as Director of Poker at the Hippodrome Casino, ensures that the event meets the high expectations of its attendees.

Women in Poker: What's on the Agenda? The Women's Winter Festival plans to offer a variety of poker events to cater to a wide spectrum of preferences. The £400 buy-in Women's Winter Festival Main Event, consisting of three starting flights spread across November 21 and 22, is the main draw of the festival. With a guaranteed £100,000 prize pool, the event promises high-stakes exhilaration.

Apart from the Main Event, on November 23, the festival will host a special 50/50 NLH Freezeout tournament. To create an unusual dynamic, pairs of men and women must enter together in this £220 event. Though not a team event, the pair with the highest score on the tournament leaderboard will receive additional value awards.

The festival will also feature an open £220 NLH Single Re-entry tournament on November 24 and a Women's Closer Freeroll. The winner of this freeroll will receive a women's package to EPT Prague, along with other rewards for final table players. The EPT Prague package is worth €1,600 and includes a €550 buy-in to the Women's Event at EPT Prague, a three-night hotel stay at the Hilton Prague, and €300 in expenses.

Women's Winter Festival ScheduleHere's a comprehensive look at the full schedule for the Women's Winter Festival:

Poker: Satellites and Qualifying ProceduresPokerStars has created several qualifying paths for the event, ensuring that women from all corners have a chance to participate. Beginning from September 22, women-only online satellites will be accessible for players in the.COM market, offering a practical and budget-friendly approach to secure a ticket to the event. A Power Path Silver Pass will also grant players from France, Spain, and Portugal entry into the festival via a tailored event package.

Furthermore, pokerstars simplifies the process of qualifying through live satellites. While the Hippodrome Casino in London will hold a £40 buy-in, registration-fee-free live qualifier on November 21, U.S. players can look forward to live qualifying tournaments. The Main Event will receive five additional spots from this live qualifier, thereby offering more chances for players to join the celebration.
