The World Games 2029 will take place every four years, following the Olympic Summer Games, and will be a festival of sport, celebrating short distances and sustainability. The global community can expect world-class sporting action and entertainment in Karlsruhe, as stated by IWGA President José Perurena.

Dr. Frank Mentrup, the Mayor of Karlsruhe, is leading the city's preparations for the event. He has been prominently involved in the city administration's dedicated company established for the organization of the World Games. The city received the symbolic “baton” for hosting, symbolizing its responsibility, and the official agreement was signed by Mayor Frank Mentrup alongside IWGA leadership.

Around 5,000 world-class athletes from more than 100 countries are expected to participate in around 35 sports at the 13th World Games. The event will feature a diverse range of non-Olympic sports, offering an exciting and unique spectacle for both athletes and spectators.

The state of Baden-Württemberg and the federal government have pledged funding contributions for the 13th World Games. The state will contribute 33 million euros, while the federal government will contribute 55 million euros, bringing the total estimated costs to approximately 120 million euros.
