Milk Industry Association Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar e.V. (Milag) Celebrates World Milk Day

In a celebration of dairy excellence, the Milk Industry Association Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar e.V. (Milag) marked World Milk Day in Saarbrücken, Saarland, and Hermeskeil, Rhineland-Palatinate, on May 31 and June 1, 2025.

Milag, a legally recognized association under the Milk and Fat Act, focuses on events, lectures, and digital information offers as methods of operation. The association represents numerous members from agriculture, the dairy industry, trade, and consumer organizations in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

The supporting program for the Milag events included sports activities in Saarbrücken organized by the SpVgg 1920 e.V., department of gymnastics and dancing, and in Hermeskeil by the TVH, HSV, and the carnival club RuckZuck, under the initiative "Verein(t) für Toleranz und Respekt" (VRT).

Participants had to answer questions about protein-rich milk products or the importance of milk in sports nutrition to participate in the competition. Besides the monthly supplies of milk, there were also material prizes like milk glasses, t-shirts, and jump ropes.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, Jesper Menzer and his grandmother Sonja Laible won and donated their prize, the two monthly supplies of milk, to the Catholic kindergarten Adolph-Kolping gGmbH in Hermeskeil. Viktoria Fettig-Kösters won the competition in Saarland and is pleased about the summer milk supply as she often makes milkshakes.

Milk products like quark and skyr are considered valuable nutrient suppliers in sports nutrition due to their high protein content. In Germany, the average annual consumption of milk products per person is approximately 114 kilograms. This annual consumption includes about 46 liters of milk, nearly 31 kilograms of sour milk products like yogurt, and about 25 kilograms of cheese.

Milag's main tasks are consumer advice, public relations, and supporting milk farmers. Target groups for Milag's activities include not only consumers but also schools, kindergartens, and multipliers. The association's efforts aim to educate and promote the benefits of milk products in everyday life.

However, there is no publicly available information about the chairman of the Milk Industry Association Rhineland-Palatinate-Saar e.V. for the year 2025. Despite this, the events were well-attended and successful in raising awareness about the importance of milk products in sports nutrition and everyday life.
