Worldwide Recognition Achieved by Supreme Court Justice Vikram Nath Due to Stray Dogs Issue

In August, a significant decision was announced in the stray dogs matter that has been under the scrutiny of the Supreme Court of India. The case was assigned to a three-judge bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath, who has since gained recognition not just in India, but worldwide, due to his work on this issue.

The decision to hear the stray dogs case before a three-judge bench was made by the Supreme Court itself. The bench, which also included Justices Sandeep Mehta and NV Anjaria, was formed to address the growing concerns surrounding the welfare of stray dogs across the country.

The case gained significant attention after a Bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan ordered the rounding up of stray dogs in Delhi. This decision sparked widespread protests by animal rights activists and dog lovers, leading to the case being later assigned to the three-judge bench headed by Justice Nath.

On August 22, the three-judge bench issued a new order regarding stray dogs, ordering their release from dog shelters after deworming and vaccination. This decision was met with appreciation from various quarters, including messages of blessings and good wishes from both humans and dogs.

Justice Nath has been actively involved in the stray dogs matter, speaking at events aimed at addressing the challenges of human-wildlife conflict in Kerala. During a recent event, several presidents of various lawyers' associations asked Justice Nath about the stray dogs matter, expressing their support for his work.

The Supreme Court Justice expressed his gratitude to the Chief Justice of India for assigning him the stray dogs case. He also acknowledged the importance of the role the Supreme Court plays in ensuring the welfare of all creatures, including stray dogs.

The conference on Human-Wildlife conflict, organized by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KeLSA), took place in Kerala. Justice Nath spoke at this conference, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to addressing human-wildlife conflicts while ensuring the protection of all animals, including stray dogs.

As the stray dogs matter continues to unfold, Justice Vikram Nath's commitment to justice and compassion for all creatures remains unwavering. His work on this issue serves as a reminder of the Supreme Court's role in upholding the rights and welfare of all beings, and the importance of empathy and understanding in our dealings with the world around us.
