Wrexham AFC is preparing to compete with previous European titans for the acquisition of a 21-year-old former Birmingham City player, with Ryan Reynolds focusing on a bold transfer move
In the latest transfer news, several clubs are making their moves to secure top talent for the upcoming season. Here are some of the key developments:
- Dapo Afolayan, a versatile 27-year-old forward currently at St Pauli, could be on the move for around £2million, with Blackburn Rovers reportedly showing interest. Afolayan's ability to play both out wide and in the middle makes him an attractive addition to the Blackburn squad.
- Jordan James, the Wales midfield star, is being pursued by multiple clubs including Wrexham, Parma, and Ipswich. James, who penned a four-year deal with Rennes last summer, has shone in his debut season with the French club, making 25 appearances. However, it now looks set that James will leave Rennes, with Wrexham determined to outbid Parma for his services.
- Wrexham, the club co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have already made significant investments this summer, spending big on Callum Doyle, Lewis O'Brien, and Conor Coady. They are also in talks with Scotland centre-back Dominic Hyam, who is currently in talks over a new deal with Blackburn but they may opt to sell him at the right price.
- Bolton Wanderers are planning a final move to land Celtic striker Johnny Kenny. The 22-year-old has recently signed an extended deal with Celtic, but Bolton are not deterred and are keen to secure his services.
- Brentford may make a £3.5million bid for Derby No 1 Jacob Zetterstrom. The Swede, who is 6ft 6in and 27 years old, would provide competition for current Brentford keeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who joined the club for £12.5m in a summer move from Liverpool.
- Fellow Welsh international Kieffer Moore and Danny Ward have already joined Wrexham, while Nathan Broadhead has also signed for the club.
- West Ham opted to sign Leicester's Mads Hermansen for £18m instead of John Victor, a keeper for Botafogo who is wanted by Turkish side Fenerbahce.
- Billy Whaite, a new signing for Blackpool, chose the club over several other offers. Whaite's father, David, is a season-ticket holder at Bloomfield Road.
- Jordan James joined Rennes for £4 million from Birmingham last summer, and Caoimhin Kelleher, a former Liverpool keeper, currently plays for Brentford.
