On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at around 22:15, a near-collision occurred on the Landstraße 865 in Oldenburg. According to information provided by the Police Department Oldenburg-Stadt / Ammerland, the incident was caused by a wrong-way driver.
The wrong-way driver was a 17-year-old learner driver from the Ammerland district. Both the learner driver and the driving instructor, a 28-year-old from the Wittmund district, noticed a car driving in the opposite direction on the overtaking lane.
In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, both vehicles swerved to the side. The wrong-way driver was overtaken by a 32-year-old Oldenburger and a 20-year-old. However, the culprit continued driving without slowing down and merged onto the A293 at the Nadorst exit.
The suspect is suspected to have left the highway at the Etzhorn exit, but the identity or name of the unknown person is not publicly disclosed. A criminal investigation has been initiated against the unknown culprit for endangering traffic.
