Xpeng reveals a more affordable price for the stylish P7 model, surprising consumers.
Xpeng's New P7 Electric Vehicle Makes a Splash in Global Markets
Xpeng, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has unveiled its latest offering, the P7, at the upcoming IAA show in Europe. The new model has generated significant interest, with over 10,000 orders received within 7 minutes of its unveiling.
The P7 is set to perform well in Xpeng's global markets, thanks to its unique driver-focused interior and sleek styling. In China, the starting price for the P7 is approximately $A47,000, with the top-spec dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) model starting at around $A64,600. This price point is lower than the originally anticipated price of around $A60,000, making the P7 more accessible to a wider audience.
The P7 is equipped with Xpeng's self-developed Turing AI chip, which powers both the smart driving system and the information system. This advanced technology promises to enhance the driving experience and improve safety features.
The P7 boasts impressive performance figures. The more powerful dual-motor variant accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, while the single-motor variants manage the same feat in under 5.8 seconds.
One of the standout features of the P7 is its charging capabilities. During a 10-minute charging session, the P7 can add 525 km to the car's battery (CLTC range) or around 400 km of WLTP range. Xpeng's 800 V architecture and ultra-fast charging technology allow for 10-80% charging in under 13 minutes.
The P7 comes with two battery options: a short-range LFP battery pack with a 75 kWh capacity and a long-range model with a 92 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery pack.
Xpeng has announced that the new P7 will be available in more than 30 countries and regions, including sales starting in Thailand. Further expansion in overseas markets such as Poland is also being considered, potentially revolutionising the electric car sector.
Riz Akhtar, the founder of carloop, a platform dedicated to EVs in Australia, has expressed his excitement about the P7. As a mechanical engineer with a passion for EVs and a goal to reduce transport emissions in Australia, Riz Akhtar is an expert in Australian EV data, insight reports, and trends. Riz spent the first 7 years of his career building transport infrastructure before starting carloop.
The P7's debut marks an exciting time for the electric vehicle industry, with Xpeng's innovative technology and sleek design promising to challenge established players in the market.
