Young prodigy from Arsenal's youth academy ends his association with the club amicably following his senior-level appearances this campaign.
Malcolm Ebiowei, a former Arsenal academy graduate, has left League One side Blackpool after less than a month. The 20-year-old midfielder joined Blackpool last month, signing a two-year deal with the club. However, his tenure at Bloomfield Road was short-lived.
Ebiowei made appearances off the bench for Blackpool against Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle, Mansfield Town, and Port Vale this season. His departure from the club was less than a month after signing his contract. The details surrounding his departure are not clear.
Blackpool announced Ebiowei's departure in a brief statement, which was 25 words long and did not provide details about the reasons for his departure. The club currently sits fifth-bottom in English football's third tier after six matches.
Ebiowei's career has been a journeyman one to date. He spent six years with Chelsea's pre-academy setup before joining Arsenal's Hale End youth base for four seasons. After leaving Arsenal's academy setup in 2019, he joined Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
Subsequently, Ebiowei was loaned out to Premier League club Crystal Palace, Hull City, RWD Molenbeek in Belgium, and last season Oxford United. In 2021, he joined Championship outfit Derby County, where he made 16 appearances.
Now, Ebiowei is currently a free agent and looking for a new club. His current market value is £1.2 million according to Transfermarkt. It remains to be seen where the young midfielder will continue his career.
