Zelenskky claims Moscow exploits the time meant for leader's meeting prep by launching attacks - Photos reveal this assertion

In the early hours of the morning on August 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the nation in response to a large-scale Russian attack. The missile strike affected multiple regions across Ukraine, including Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Rivne, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv Oblasts.

Zelenskyy confirmed one death and dozens of injuries, including children, as a result of the attack. He stated that political statements alone will not stop the war and called on the world to take "real action" in response to the attack.

The Ukrainian President also proposed effective sanctions against Moscow, including banking and energy sanctions. He accused Russia of using the time meant for a leaders-level meeting to organize new attacks. Zelenskyy has not yet made a statement about a potential ceasefire or diplomatic ties with Russia.

In addition, Zelenskyy suggested tough measures against those bankrolling the Russian army. However, there is no information about any specific individual or entity being targeted by these measures.

Meanwhile, the European Union and its Western allies have been applying pressure on Russian banks and energy companies through successive sanctions. These sanctions include cutting off Russian banks from the SWIFT financial messaging system, blocking transactions with Russian state companies, freezing assets, and imposing import bans on coal and technology. The aim is to hinder financial and military support for the Russian army.

Despite these tensions, there is no information about a potential threat from Russian President Vladimir Putin towards Finland in relation to the recent events. Similarly, there is no information about a statement from the Belarusian leader regarding Crimea not being Russian de jure being related to the missile strike.
